One of those beautiful runs that make all the painful, miserable one worthwhile.

I took a long lunch and ran over to Wheeler Farm and ran on its trails for an hour. The trails are no longer covered in ice and just had patches of snow and mud and soft soil. (The mud was a bit sticky and slippery, but my hobnail shoes conquered all).  I was just pushing a little past my comfort zone and really felt great. Legs were strong and feeling good overall.  The fifth mile I could start to feel the effort from pushing and had to fight off slowing down.

Tried out my new running pack (it is a Nathan running vest) that I am hoping to use for the 50 miler.

Oh - and in case you are curious - 17 days until my 50 mile run.

Tonight I am hoping to do additional miles running uphill on the treadmill.

WAY to conquer the slippery. Those are some nice tempo pace. 17 days? Are you excited? Wow, uphill tonight? You're such a diehard. Have fun!

Thanks, oh smooth one.....

Yes, I am excited about the race. They added in another training run this Saturday, so I will head up and do more hills.

I'm thinking of just doing slow uphill running on the treadmill. Or, I might just take a nap. I'm not sure about the having fun part of that.

Do you feel ready for a 50 miler? It's been so cool to 'get ready' with you here on the blog. It makes me think "sheesh, I should just do the Utah County Marathon just for fun....." in other words, you're an inspration. Keep it up.

I'm as ready as I can be at this point in time. This will be pushing new limits and learning to live with that. Running from Sandy to Provo a couple of weeks back helped with my confidence.

Nice speed Maurine :) That sounds like such a nice run. Your 50 miler is going to be ever so cool!

Man those were nice splits!!! Did you see alot of dogs there? Maybe I should take Odee over there sometime.

Thanks for the visit yesterday and the magazines! They kept me busy all night!!!

Other than dogs in people's yards - nope. Lots of geese, ducks and horsies

Gotta push pause during the stoplights!

From tarzan on Thu, Mar 12, 2009 at 21:21:55 from 97.117.75.12

I tend to push stop during the stoplights, but they still sometimes slow me down because I start slowing down beforehand.

I guess that is true, plus you have to get going again. Lights are a royal pain, that is why I like the trails!
