Race: Moonlight Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 02:50:00

One mile earlier with the dog. Then an afternoon at Boondocks with the company.

Ran the Moonlight Half Marathon in Mapleton last night.  I started at 8:30 and finished at 11:20 - so 2 hours 50 minutes.

Lot more uphill than I expected the first few miles, so alternated walking and running. You are supposed to do this race without a watch and I kind of missed my Garmin, but it was nice not focusing on time and distance as much as I tend to do. They did a good job having people out at turns and lots of flashing and strobing lights (too much sometimes).

All participants needed to wear reflective gear.  I had on a reflective hat and reflective belt. They also recommended a headlamp and I brought a small one. I was very glad for that because it was awfully dark up in the canyon and even on the streets later and it would have slowed me down even more trying to stay on the paved trail and avoid a faceplant.  Very different not being able to see what is coming up and having to gauge whether you are going uphill or down.

Ran without music until mile 9.  I was totally enjoying the sounds of the woods and river and the frogs and crickets.  In the early out and back section did a lot of high fives encouraging people on.

It was a well run race.  I might try the Legacy Moonlight Run next year since it is closer.

Yes - that is .2 miles.  Pinched a nerve in my lower left back on Sunday and I am basically flat on my back most of the time.  Hobbled around the condo complex with my cane to try and keep moving some of the time.  I have to be very careful not to turn wrong or spasms start.

Such Fun!

********

Went to a new doctor in the afternoon who changed the diagnosis from a pinched nerve to a sprained ligament.  Everything the first doctor told me to do was crippling me.  This doctor wanted me to walk as much as possible, so pushed my niece in a stroller for an hour and then walked another 30 or so minutes later.

Nice walk with the dog this morning. I can hardly feel the back pain now - just an occasional ache.  Tomorrow I will run/walk about 5-6 miles and can probably make a decision about Park City Marathon.

Weight below 160 for the first time in over a year.  So good to see that magic 5 in the second column and I can't wait until it is a 4.  My trainer that did so well with be in 2007 and 2008 lives in Louisiana but has agreed to train me over the internet.  So glad to be working with Lorin again.

11 miles on the Pipeline Trail and threw in Rattlesnake Gulch for some altitude.  The uphill caused a total bonk and I had to walk my way out - but enjoyed every minute of the time (except the uphill in Rattlesnake Gulch).
