Signed up this week to run the Suncrest Half Marathon.  It looked like it would be tough half and I was right about that.

I'll write more in my other blog, but suffice it to say that the course  had 3357 feet of elevation gain and 3389 feet of descent (could have fooled me on the last one).  A good mix of trails and roads.  Lots of great views of both the Salt Lake and Utah Valleys.

There may be a tougher half in Utah - but I'm not sure what it would be.

Wore my Hoka Mafates. They are very comfortable to run in - but I wish I wouldn't get blisters on my big toes every time I run in them. Got some large ones this time even with putting blister packs on the toes and duct tape on top of that.

Two more miles with the dog.  Going to count my walking miles until the end of the year because I need to start spending a lot of time on my feet in preparation for Across the Years 48 hour race.

Added two more miles tonight to get into a 40 mile week.

Yes, those walking miles need to be counted!!!

I looked at the course and, WOW, you are right. TOUGH! You did a great job!

Oh good. Glad to know I wasn't imagining how tough it was. :)

wow... a VERY tough course! Nice work Maurine! I don't think I'd tackle that one. Can't wait for your Across the Years race!! It is going to be awesome!

Nice job!!! Mayne you should get some of those toe socks. The ones that fit on your feet like gloves. Ever since I started wearing them, I don't get blisters on my toes anymore. The ones I wear are made by injinji.

That sounds horrible! Good job Maurine. I like the toe socks too, have you tried them?

super tough! nice job, maurine. that course requires some serious strength. way to go.

Thanks everyone. It is a pretty course but I am not sure I want to suffer that much in a half.

With regards to the Hokas and blisters - toe socks would not make a difference. The uppers have a seam that rubs against the shoe side of the big toe. I'm doing more research of methods to cope with the issue.

Could you have picked a harder course? Great work Maurine! Proud of ya..

LOL - yeah - this was a doozy. Thanks, Steve.
