Got out the door by 5 and did 5 miles running on a route I have not done in a while.  Down 7th East to 80th South then to the Trax trains and alongside the trax trains to 90th South and then back.  There is one section alongside the trains where there are no lights and the road is really cracked and pitted and had to feel my way along in the dark in the FiveFingers since they are not as stable as running shoes.  I felt like I was in a cheap horror movie when (in the same stretch), a car suddenly started up as I ran next to it (never saw the owner come out) and then a few minutes later a couple of bikers started up on the road without making a sound.

1 more mile walking with Twilight as a cooldown.  At work now and drinking my milk/protein/spinach/blueberry/pomegranate shake for breakfast.

PM - started off walking to the gym for an abs class.  Met up with Steve Ashbaker and talked with him for a while and then ended up running the remaining mile to the gym. Did a 20 minutes abs class, then 50 minutes of back and biceps.  When I came out the temperature had dropped over 13 degrees in the 70 minutes I was inside and there was a nice tailwind, so ran home 1.3 miles from the gym.

It looked like something a dog hacks up - but actually tasted pretty good.

I love my FiveFingers (except on very rocky trails and then they are positively painful).

Nice early morning run! Now you will feel great all day!! What are your Sat. plans?

From Maurine/Tarzan on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 12:59:47 from 63.255.172.2

Les - I have a 5K at midnight in Sandy. Might do a little more running in the morning. My nephew gets married in the SLC Temple in the afternoon and then the reception that evening.

Nice miles, Miles :) Your Saturday sounds busy :)

Sounds like you have your day planned. Harold and I are going to leave the house at 5:30 and do Guardmans to Desolation to Mill D., it would have been nice to have you along.

Up at 5 on the 5th of Aug. running 5 in Five Fingers. Those are the omens that saved you from the "cheap horror movie" near misses.

GOOD JOB!!! That shake sounds nutrilicious!!!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 15:47:39 from 63.255.172.2

What a good way to look at it Smooth. Good thing I wore the FiveFingers - right?

Shake was good.

Snack 1 was celery with hummus and/or almond butter.

Lunch was quinoa with onions and peppers and salsa.

I need some junk food desperately! (slaps myself to stay away from it)

From leslie peterson on Wed, Aug 05, 2009 at 15:49:46 from 76.23.61.78

Don't worry about the snack, I took care of it for you and had two handfuls of frozen chocolate chips. Now carry on!

Ohhh- I had for a snack a whole wheat tortilla(0 points ;) with a piece of grilled chicken and baby greens- wrap style. for lunch I sauteed- 2 t olive oil, chopped onion, fresh mushrooms, baby spinach, 1 grated zucchini, one egg and an egg white with chopped fresh tomatoes on top. HUGE and delicious! then I took a bit of Wills left over PB & J ;) I love peanut butter :)

My shake this morning was a berry smoothie mix, ice, banana and a lemon green tea pkt. Odd, but yummy :)

So, is the rash all gone? Benadryl is great for sleep (although I take childrens Benadryl).

The car and bikers are freaky! I wonder why people pay extra to be able to start their car from far away, although it is probably nice in the winter to warm it up without having to go outside.

I just hope those things are beer bottle proof!

I've run through rocks and glass with no problems - except for bruised feet on rocky paths - and am getting better about handling that. The only thing that has penetrated the sole are the goathead stickers - those hurt when you step on them and you have to pull them out.

That shake sounds, um, good ? JK. I eat crazy stuff in the blender too (don't we all?). I hear ya on that crazy horror film running (replace the stilettos caught in the tracks for the 5-fingers). It's dark at 6:00 again! I hate it when that happens. P.S. 20 minute ab work out? Wow.

From leslie peterson on Thu, Aug 06, 2009 at 17:28:58 from 76.23.61.78

Hey, look at your mileage!!!!! Woo! Hoo!

From Maurine/Tarzan on Thu, Aug 06, 2009 at 17:48:19 from 63.255.172.2

LOL - plodding along. Trying to figure out my training for tonight and tomorrow to allow for the race at midnight Friday night. I know I won't PR (starting to get sick again) - but I would like to force myself to run under 10 minute miles the entire race if I can. (which will be interesting in the dark since it will be harder to see my watch).
