Short-Term Running Goals:

After 1/9/2010 - I am taking a year off from marathon length distances and focusing on building up my base speed on half marathons and shorter distances.

2010 Speed Goals:

  • Build up my base speed on training runs to 10 MM miles or better
  • Half Marathon - break 2:05 (9.5 MM avg)
  • 10K Goal 1 - break 1:00 (9.67 MM avg)
  • 10K Goal 2 - break 55 minutes (8.87 MM avg)
  • 5K Goal 1 - break 26.35 minutes
  • 5K Goal 2 - break 25 minutes

Long-Term Running Goals:

Long Term Goals:

  • Complete a 100 Mile race
  • Complete a 100 K race
  • Break 12 hours in a 50 mile race
  • Run all portions of the Wasatch 100 course
  • Break 5 hours in a marathon
  • Break 4.5 hours in a marathon
  • Qualify for and run Boston

Interval day (yuck).  1/2 mile warmup on the treadmill.

6 x .25 miles starting at 6.0 mph and increasing .1 each interval.  .25 in between at 5 mph. 

Last mile started at 7.0 mph and decreased my speed .1 every tenth of a mile.

Chose to run after work today to get some badly needed sunlight in my life. After dinner, did an hour of lower body/core weight training.

After two hard leg days in a row, the legs were really heavy. Ran up 7th E to 90th S then up behind Wallyworld and up 9400 to 13th. Ran down to Golds Gym and did an upper body workout. Ran home then did a cooldown with the dog.

Body has been really stiff from taking up weight training and hard runs earlier in the week, so took yesterday as a rest day.

Back was really stiff this morning, but ran with the dog to get my PO Box contents for the HOA and that loosened it up some.  Will run again tonight.

PM - Ran in the rain to the library, then Wasatch Running, then home.
