Tarzan - Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find where the Porter Rockwell Trail ends.

Destination - Draper, Utah off of Bangerter Highway.  Mission start time:  5:00 p.m.  Tarzan headed south and west from Bangerter to see what she could see.  There was a lovely view of the State Penitentiary.  Some beautiful gravel pits.  Some drifting snow and some ice to run through.  Mission successful - trail ends approximately 2 miles later at Geneva Rock.

I found the end of the trail, then headed back to where I parked.  I crossed the highway and ran about 1/5 of a mile down the other portion of the Porter Rockwell Trail, then dropped down to the Draper Canal Trail for the rest of my run.  When I finally headed back west on the Canal Trail, I found that it ended right across from where I had left my car.

This would be another good alternate location to start on Saturday. It is only about a mile off the freeway - so let me know if you want me to change the starting location and write down directions.

I am excited.  Basically, I found tonight that I could head out from my townhouse, get on the Trax trail, run it to the end, get on Porter Rockwell trail, run it to the end, and swing back on the Draper Canal Trail and head over to the Trax Trail. I could easily put in 20-25 miles or more, with only about 3 miles total on side roads.

Used the foam roller on my back and legs.  Added some complexity with a small critter running up and trying to balance on my back, so had to maintain stability.

Excellent adventure! Way to go!!!

You are so cute. I love your mission. Ok, I'm still confused as to where the Rockwell trail ends and where the Draper Canal Trail is. And approximately how long the Rockwell trail is say from the Albertson's parking lot. I need to run a 20 miler. What do you recommend. I can either have my hubby drop me off at wherever we decide to meet, start, then run home if the Canal Trail meets up with the Lehi JRP. But I might get lost and ended up running along I-15 which would be very scary.

O and THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for scouting it out for us. I hope you didn't have to run in the dark.

I know what a foam roller is. But what's the small critter running up and balancing on your back? Don't tell me it's your cute little Twilight. How fun is that to have him work out with you!

Smooth - yes, Twilight decided she wanted to climb all over me while I was rolling out my muscles. It was pretty cute - except when she tried to nip my boobs.

As far as a 20 miler - the trails I have checked out do not connect with the Lehi JRP trail. They are all on the East side of I-15. It appears that the Porter Rockwell Trail is roughly 5.5 miles long. Most of it was clear - but over by Point of the Mountain there were a few small section where the wind had blown snow back over the trail and a bit of ice. Nothing bad. So - you could get 11 miles on Porter Rockwell itself.

The Draper Canal Trail is below Porter Rockwell. If you want, I could scout it out tonight (let me know if I have a new mission to accept). There are signs leading down to it at about 1.0 and 3.25 from Porter Rockwell, but I haven't run more than a mile of it, so don't know how much it swings around.

Another alternative is: You could come to my place and we could run together for a little bit. About 1.5 miles from my house is a paved trail that runs along the Trax from 8900 South to 12800 South (or is it 12300?). Anyway, from my house to the end of that trail was 6.5 miles and it ends about 4 blocks from where Leslie was suggesting we meet at that Albertson.

If you ran that - it would put you near 20 and then you could just do a short out and back on either the Canal Trail or Porter Rockwell.

Wow this is getting tricky! Good job girlfriend, you know the ins and outs better than I do, so will you be the Group leader? I can meet everyone at Albertsons and maybe you and Smooth can meet up with us on the trail? What do you think? I am easy....welll not EASY but you know what I mean.

I think you need a dog for all of these adventures---A BIG DOG!!!
